Adventures on the Farm

We're beyond excited to have finally launched our first Albetta Adventures!  We’re passionate about fun and colour and introducing everything that’s wonderful into a child’s life, and we have so loved putting this into practice in these new themed collections.

I’m going to be talking on the blog about the inspiration behind each one in turn and introducing some of the talented designers who have made each collection a reality.  Starting with a collection that is very much in-house and epitomises everything we wanted to achieve - Adventures on the Farm.

Annabel and I have seven children between us and they all did plenty of running wild outdoors when they were young.  Annabel’s brood had the good fortune to live in Vietnam, but my three were much more familiar with good old British mud and puddles, not that it ever stopped them!  Izzy, my eldest, has been obsessed with animals since she was tiny so we spent a LOT of time at farm parks, outside farm gates hoping for a glimpse of the cows and – ultimate joy - even had a very memorable B&B holiday on a working farm.  Here they are, collecting eggs on that farm... a good few years ago now.

So we’re all about outdoor play and animals and adventure….  Last year we introduced a range of knit toys – our Farmyard Friends.  Perry Pig, Curtis Cow, Dinky Donkey, Leila Lamb plus Mabel Mouse (you get mice on farms, right?!), which were instant hits.  Then earlier this year Annabel found a rare vintage tractor toy on one of her many visits to antique markets.  That was all the inspiration she needed to design a whole collection of Albetta clothing and crochet toys to join our knit farm toys.

We wanted to add products from at least one other designer and have been a proud stockist of Fiona Walker England since she first launched her range of felt animal heads, so including some of these was a must.

Annabel also found plenty of vintage crates, baskets, pails and blankets to add colour and style to the photoshoot, some of which have found their way onto the website for sale (and some of which haven’t – we’re finding it much harder to part with her vintage finds than we anticipated!).

We chose some gorgeous little models for our shoot and had such fun watching them play, captured beautifully by our amazing photographer, Sue Lacey.

We’ve already been sent some absolutely amazing photographs by our customers of their farm adventures – like this one from Sarah T (we just LOVE that she's wearing one of our sparkly tops on the farm) - and can’t wait to see many more.

Happy adventuring! Anna x
